Race starts at Orapiu Wharf (reached via the Special charter sailing).
There is a steep climb (500 metres) out of Orapiu and then an undulating sealed road. After 2.4 kms turn left where the sign says Onetangi and continue on past Passage Rock Vineyard. The bottom of Mt Maunganui Hill (steep climb) is at 5kms and is 2.2km to the top followed by a long downhill. At the bottom of the hill (8.3km) follow road around to the right (Awa Awa Roa Rd on left). At 8.4km turn left into Waiheke Rd where the sign points to Onetangi. Wind up this hill to the top of Waiheke Rd. Instead of following main road go straight ahead into Belle Tce – 11.3km. This will loop back onto Waiheke Road. Continue down this hill to Onetangi.
Continue on Waiheke Rd and turn left into Onetangi Rd. Go along Onetangi straight past the Golf Club. In Ostend turn left into Calais Tce (16.9 kms). After this hill turn left into Natzka Rd, go past Anzac Bay and right into Ladd Rd. At the top of the hill (18km) turn left into Ostend Rd and down to Putiki Bay. Turn right into Wharf Rd. Join up with the main Rd (Causeway Rd) by turning left and go across the Causeway. Proceed through the roundabout and through Surfdale (this main road changes names several times – Alison, Mitchell, Miami and Hamilton Rds). Leave the main road by going straight ahead where Hamilton Rd veers right and becomes Surfdale Rd (20.7km). Turn left onto Lannan Rd and this becomes The Esplanade which is a metal road. Follow the sea wall around to Blackpool (back on sealed road), turn right in Moa Ave (22.1km), left into Nikau Rd, right into Tui St, left into Mako Street. At the top of this hill turn left into Church Bay Rd (23.3 km) and then right into Nick Johnston Drive.  200 metres along the road you turn right and follow the Atawai Whenua track down to the finish line.

Race starts at The Strand, Onetangi Beach and turns left into Fourth Ave which becomes Onetangi Rd. Go along Onetangi straight past the Golf Club. In Ostend turn left into Calais Tce. 5K Surfdale to Matiatia

The start line is at Surfdale Beach by the park on Blake Street.
This course is designed with families in mind (though no buggies allowed because of the terrain).
The course starts on Blake Street, turns left onto Hamilton Street, left on Lannan Road and along The Esplanade to Blackpool, up Mako Street to Church Bay Road, right onto Nick Johnstone Drive.
200 metres along the road you turn right and follow the Atawai Whenua track down to the finish line.

Kids Dash

The Kid’s Dash starts and finishes in Matiatia – which is the finish line of all other distances.
The course will take young entrants across the grass reserve and along trails, eventually joining the downhill stretch of the Atawai Whenua track down to the same finish line as other entrants. There will be marshalls to guide them and make sure they finish safely. Online registration is preferred, but children can sign up on the day from 12pm to join in the fun.

Official charities

Rotary Waiheke supports local and national charities and community organisations. In the last year we have helped:
• Spirit of Adventure • Dictionaries in Schools • The Waiheke Hoispice • Christchurch Mosque appeal • Many more local and national projects. More information…

A combination of a tremendously challenging course but a fabulously friendly setting gives this event a charm of its own.
Definitely coming back as logistics allow.
