Ferries
Please note that your race Entry Fee does NOT include ferry tickets.
If you are travelling from Auckland for the race, there are specially discounted ferry tickets (not available yet) to get you to your start line and back to Auckland.
The Special charter sailing Return ticket is for the special charter sailing (25K participants only) on race day. Your ticket takes you all the way to Orapiu – you do not need to purchase any other ticket. You may use this ticket to return to Auckland up to the Monday following the event.
Please note that AT HOP Cards and Senior Super Gold Card tickets are not valid for the Special charter sailing Ferry.
The Special charter sailing will depart Auckland at 6:30am (please arrive 6.10am) from Pier 2B and will arrive at Matiatia at 7:10am on race day. The charter will collect Waiheke based runners from Matiatia (please arrive 7.00am) and depart at 7:20am before arriving at Orapiu at 7:55am.
The Wharf2Wharf – Waiheke Return ticket is for travel on a regularly scheduled ferry from the Friday before the event, until the Monday after the event inclusive.
If you plan to travel from Auckland for the 12K or 5K event on race day, you should purchase this ticket and catch the 7am ferry for the 12K event, or 8am ferry for the 5K event.
You will be able to print your tickets at home. No ticket, no boarding!
If joining the Special charter sailing at Matiatia, you will be able to purchase a ferry ticket to the Orapiu start line for $10 from the race packet pick up point on Friday, or before boarding the boat on Saturday morning. The ferry leaves at 8:20am sharp!
Race Packs
For 25K entrants, your Race Packs will be available at 5:45am from the Downtown Ferry Terminal and onboard the Special Charter Ferry.

Buses
For the 5K & 12K entrants, your race bib or printed confirmation of entry also serves as a bus ticket to get you to your start lines. There will be a special Charter bus from Matiatia to the start of the 12K Onetangi race which will meet the 7am ferry and take participants to Onetangi for the race start at 9:10am.
Participants in the 5K event need to catch the scheduled bus service up to Oneroa and get off beside the Waiheke Library where there will be a 9:40am charter bus (please be onsite from 9.30am) to take you to the 5km start line ready for the 5K start at 10:10am.
Event participants must be wearing their bibs or have printed confirmation of entry on them to receive free travel
Participants in the 25K event do not need to catch a bus. The Special Charter Ferry will take you from Matiatia to the start line at Orapiu.
Driving
We do not recommend driving to start lines, as parking space is extremely limited due to road closures for the race.
Please don’t drive to Orapiu on Saturday morning because:
• Parking is extremely limited due to the narrow roads around the start line area. Ask a friend to drop you off.
• There is no bus service to Orapiu, so unless you have a guaranteed means of transport to return to collect your vehicle later in the day, you’ve got a long walk back!
(If you catch the earliest Sealink Ferry, you may be able to arrive at Kennedy Point in time for you to drive to Matiatia, park, and then catch the Special charter sailing to Orapiu at 7:20am. Check the Sealink timetable closer to the event)
12K entrants: At Onetangi please allow time to find a car park on Second, Third or Fourth Ave. The Strand will be closed to traffic from 7:00am onward.
5K entrants: At Surfdale, the entrance to Blake Street will be closed for safety reasons. Please use the dedicated car park by Stefano’s/Ideal Electric and walk along to Blake Street. Access to the Old Post Office car park will be restricted for the safety of runners and walkers in the longer distance events.

Do I enter as a runner or walker?
If you are thinking of jogging or running AT ANY POINT in the event you do need to be entered in the run category. The walking category is only for those who have committed to walk the event from start to finish. Please ensure you are entered in the right category at pre race registration.
Will the walk event be policed?
No. We will do our best to ensure all participants enter the correct category (run or walk) at pre race registration but that is where our policing stops. No event staff will be policing that each walk category participant will be strictly walking across the entire event course on the day as this is not an official sanctioned walk event. At the post event prizegiving we will announce the provisional winners of the walk category based on the provisional results that we have. Post event, if you believe a particular participant needs to be altered from the walk to the run category please use the Contact Us form on this website and we will follow up with that participant. If that participant agrees that they should be switched, we will switch – if they disagree or communication cannot be made with that participant they will remain in the walk results.
Kids Dash
Racepacks available from 11am to 12pm from the Fun Fair playground at Matiatia.

Kauri Dieback
At Wharf2Wharf we are passionate about preventing the spread of Kauri Dieback. We are fortunate that no Kauri Dieback (KDB) has yet been detected on Waiheke – in fact Waiheke is one of the last places in New Zealand containing kauri that has no confirmed Kauri Dieback infections. We intend to keep Waiheke non-infected. The disease that attacks the kauri is incurable, is easily transmitted and once on the island it cannot be removed and can remain dormant and viable for up to 10 years. For more information on Kauri Dieback, please visit the website www.kauridieback.co.nz
